RRSP / RRIF Withdrawal & Retirement

Two related questions on one page: how much room do you have to contribute to an RRSP this year, and what does a withdrawal schedule from a RRIF in retirement look like?

The RRSP and RRIF are two phases of the same registered account: you contribute to and grow an RRSP during your working years, then convert it to a RRIF (or annuity) by the end of the year you turn 71 and begin mandatory minimum withdrawals.

This calculator covers both phases. On the contribution side it computes your deduction limit and the marginal tax saved by contributing. On the withdrawal side it computes the minimum required withdrawal each year using CRA’s age-based factors and projects after-tax retirement income.
